** Calling all Musicians **
GAA Scór Oifigiúil are running a great initiative and it would be brilliant to see some of our hugely talented musicians in the parish participate! 👍

Over the next few weeks GAA Scór Oifigiúil will be hostingVirtual Scór on Facebook. We are looking for video performances in Song, Story, Ceol Uirlise and Irish Dance recorded in homes during the Covid Lockdown which we will post online. We hope that this will encourage you to engage with aspects of Irish culture in a family setting and also help to pass the time in an enjoyable manner. Feel free to dedicate your performace to a family member, front-line worker etc.

This is not a competition and is open to all, whether members of GAA clubs or not. The normal age divisions do not apply so we can have group performances featuring parents, grand parents and children in solo or group form. We welcome performances from those in Ireland and abroad.

It is important that everyone comply with the health regulations as set down by the authorities wherever you live. Participation in a group should be limited to those living together and under no circumstances should people be meeting up with friends for the purpose of performance.

Pre-recorded performances by groups from earlier events do not qualify for inclusion.

We encourage everyone to participate no matter what level of musicianship they are at. Practice makes perfect so make sure your pieces are well practiced before forwarding them. To make inclusion simple, video your piece, post on Facebook and tag GAA Scór Oifigiúil

Tá fáilte roimh amhráin i nGaeilge agus Béarla. (entries are welcome in Gaeilge or English)

There are 4 categories:
1) Amhránaíocht: A single song or ballad of Irish origin, in English or Irish, in solo or group (unlimited) form, with or without musical accompaniment.
2) Scéalaíocht: A single poem, recitation or story, recited, read or dramatised as Gaeilge or in English on any subject relating to Ireland, its history, folklore, people or places. There is a special welcome for pieces of local folklore based on the 1937 “School Folklore Collection” which can be accessed online from duchas.ie Performances shall not contain racism, sectarianism, sexual offensiveness or vulgarity.
3) Ceol Uirlise Two or three tunes of Irish traditional music.
4) Rince: Any piece of solo or group Irish dance, sean-nós, figure or set.

To keep some order on the page we will post performances in the diferent categories on different days starting Wednesday April 1st ( and no! This is not an April Fools Day Joke) and continue in the following order:
April 1st Amhránaíocht
April 2nd Scéalaíocht
April 3rd Ceol Uirlise
April 5th Rince
April 6th Amhranaíocht
