Kilmallock was the venue for the Round 2 of the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Played on a lovely warm evening. We started very well with three points inside the opening 10 minutes from sharp shooter Kieran O’Dea, The 1st Point was From Play when Kieran was brilliantly set up by Michael Lane. The next two points were from placed balls, a free after Tommy Cronolly was fouled and three minutes later a 65. Bruff Replied With three Points In a row to level the match, two from play and one from a free. On 18 minutes Jimmy O’Dea won possession and scored a fantastic point to put us ahead 0-04 To 0-03. Kieran O’Dea added another point from a free after James Vincent O’Brien was held back. Again Bruff hit three unanswered points two from Frees and one from play. This put Bruff ahead by one point. A mistake by the Bruff Goalkeeper led to a 65 for us and Kieran O’Dea made no mistake. It was bruff who finished the strongest with two points, one from play and an injury time 65 to leave the scoreboard reading at half time Bruree 0-06 Bruff 0-08.

A big second half was needed by the lads but it was Bruff who started well scoring two points within six minutes. Star Player On The night Jimmy O’Dea Then scored a cracker of a point from long distance on 39 minutes to close the gap. Two minutes later James Vincent O’Brien who was a thorn in the Bruff’s side was Again fouled going through on goal and Kieran O’Dea Who was excellent all night Easily put the ball over the bar. Bruff again went on to hit three more points from play to extend the gap to five points. Nine minutes passed with no scores but that was down to both teams commitments. Our back lines and Midfielders were outstanding working very hard all night. With seven minutes to go came the game changer. A long Ball In was not dealt with by the Bruff Goalkeeper And Michael Lane Put a lot of pressure on him which resulted in the Goalkeeper covering over the ball. The referee stopped the match and consulted with he’s two umpires and then awarded us a 21 yard Free in. Up stood the mighty Kieran O’Dea And he blasted the ball low and hard to the back of the Bruff net. The scoreboard now read Bruree 1-08 Bruff 0-13. Three minutes later Bruff Pointed to put the gap out to a goal. Kieran O’Dea was moved into full forward and this move would prove a masterstroke. With 57 minutes up on the clock Another long Ball In was fantastically won in the air by Kieran and he turned the bruff full back and under enormous pressure kicked the ball to the back of the net. This lifted the roof off in Kilmallock as the match was now level. A Minute Later we won a free on our half back line. Shane Mullane Who was in goal for us as our main goalkeeper Daniel Lane was out injured stood up and pointed the free from our own half back line to give us the lead. Two minutes into injury time Bruff leveled the match from play. With only one minute of injury time left quick thinking by Shane Mullane found Dáire O’Driscoll unmarked Who then Passed a great ball into Donal Deady (Who was brought on in the 41st Minute) Donal didnt think twice, he opened up the shoulders and from 85 Metres out put the ball over the bar to give us a one point lead. Bruff still had time and from a long puckout were awarded a late free to level the match which they did. This was the last action on the night as the referee sounded the final whistle to end what was a thrilling hours of hurling. Well Done To Both Teams on a very tough but spiritual match. The final score was Bruree 2-10 Bruff 0-16.
